Education through physical activity has objectives that are compatible with those of all education. Every aspect of human development interacts with every other, and the learning activities planned in physical education are based on the fact that all attitudes and abilities unite in the individual's total development. The elementary curriculum in physical education provides experiences thru which the student may: Increase strength and endurance. Improve agility, balance, coordination and flexibility. Recognize the need to exercise to maintain total fitness. Relieve emotional stress and strain. Increase the ability to get along and work with others. Increase powers of self-direction and leadership. Enjoy physical activities as a medium of self-expression. Compete with others at his/her own level of ability. Develop an awereness of the importance of safety procedures. Provide opportunities to learn responsible participation in the community.
